Yes, each bus will have one adult chaperone to ensure safety and provide supervision. Parents are welcome to volunteer as chaperones, but a background check is required. To apply, please complete the Michigan State Police iChat Form.
One bus seat will be reserved for the chaperone, and an optional lift ticket will be covered by the club. There will be a total of three chaperones each Friday.
Safety is a top priority. Each bus is assigned a dedicated adult chaperone to supervise students during transit. At Mt. Brighton, the resort's trained ski patrol team and security personnel are on-site to ensure everyone's safety. Students are required to check in at the upstairs indoor picnic area upon arrival and departure. Parents will be contacted immediately if there are any concerns during the trip.
Each bus requires a minimum of 55 participants to run. We will evaluate whether the bus has enough seats filled to justify the cost on Sunday at 5:00 PM before the Friday trips. If the minimum is not met, the bus transportation for that date will be canceled, and parents who have purchased the bus ticket will be automatically refunded the $28 bus fee.
The trip itself will still proceed, and participants will need to arrange their own transportation or carpool to Mt. Brighton. Lift tickets will be available for pick-up at the upstairs indoor picnic area at the resort.
If a family wishes to cancel their lift ticket due to a lack of transportation options, they may do so by Monday at 5:00 PM (Giving you 24 hours the ticket becomes non-refundable).
Participants may cancel their bus reservation up until Sunday at 5:00 PM for a refund of the $28 bus fee.
Lift tickets are non-refundable after Monday at 6:00 PM, as we are required to provide a final headcount to Mt. Brighton by this time. Unfortunately, we cannot offer refunds or rescheduling for sickness or poor ski conditions after this deadline.
If possible, have your child bring a fully-charged cellular device (watch or phone) for quicker communication. We also recommend placing a hand warmer inside the pocket of the device as it keeps the battery warm.
If your student does not have access to a communication device, we will use standard communication protocol with Mt. Brighton staff.
In case of an emergency, we will rely on the National Ski Patrol to provide immediate assistance on-site.
We will also use the emergency contact information provided in the student’s membership account to notify you.
